I Want to Be Happy
In a world where so many people feel unhappy or stuck, it’s rare to meet someone who is genuinely happy with their life.
I’m one of those people now — although if you read my last blog, you’ll know I wasn’t always this way.

How to Change Your Life in 5 Steps | A Real Story of Growth
At some point, I took control of my life and started making the changes I needed to build a life that truly felt right for me.
But this blog isn’t about the things you can change.
It’s about learning to let go of the things you can’t.
What Does It Really Mean to Be Happy?
Happiness means different things to different people. So let me ask you:
What makes you happy?
Happiness is an emotion — and emotions aren’t permanent.
Seeing the people I love makes me happy.
Watching a great movie makes me happy.
Eating a nice meal makes me happy.
But I’m not happy every hour of every day — and that’s normal.
I think when most people say they want to be happy, what they’re really searching for is contentment.

Happiness vs Contentment
Contentment is about knowing you’re on the right path.
If you’ve already taken steps to build a life that feels aligned and fulfilling — that’s something to be incredibly proud of. It isn’t easy.
So what else can you do?
You can let go.
Let Go of What You Can’t Control
So much unhappiness comes from trying to control things that simply aren’t ours to control, such as:
- What other people say or do
- How other people see you or talk about you
- The past (if it’s holding you back)
- Negative thoughts
- Negative self-talk
That last one? A big one for me.

The Power of Letting Go of Negative Self-Talk
How often do we say things to ourselves that we’d never say to someone else?
“I’m such an idiot — I got that wrong.”
“Stupid — I left the milk out.”
Those small comments add up.
Letting go of caring what other people think has also taken me a long time — and I’m not sure I’ll ever be 100% there.
For years, I avoided stepping into the spotlight. When you put yourself out there, people always have something to say — and it isn’t always kind.
But that’s human nature.
No matter what you do, there will always be someone with something negative to say.
So ask yourself:
Are there already people judging you?
Are there past events still holding you back?
Are you shrinking yourself because of noise that doesn’t actually matter?
I’ve spent a long time working through these things so I can become the person I need to be — to build a life and business that feels meaningful to me.
A Book That Helped Me Let Go
If you want to break free from the things holding you back, I highly recommend Mel Robbins’ book Let Them and listening to The Mel Robbins Podcast.
Both have helped me massively, and I truly hope they help you too.
